Storage Maryland Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Storage Maryland in respect of its operations and supply chains. Storage Maryland is committed to conducting business ethically, with integrity, and in full respect of human rights. We recognise our responsibility to help prevent modern slavery and human trafficking and to respond swiftly and effectively wherever concerns are identified.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Maryland maintains a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, child labour, and human trafficking. This applies to every part of our business and to all individuals working for or on behalf of Storage Maryland, including employees, temporary staff, contractors, agents, and suppliers.
Any form of exploitation is fundamentally incompatible with our values. We expect all parties in our supply chain to share this commitment and to demonstrate it through their own policies, procedures, and conduct. Where we find evidence of non-compliance, we will take appropriate action, which may include remediation plans, suspension of work, or termination of contracts.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Maryland operates in the storage and related services sector. Our supply chains include providers of construction, maintenance, security, cleaning, logistics, equipment, technology, and professional services. We recognise that some of these sectors may present higher risks of labour exploitation and we assess and manage those risks proportionately.
We are working to map and understand our supply chains more fully so that we can focus our efforts where they will have the greatest impact and ensure that our standards are consistently upheld.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect our suppliers and business partners to uphold standards consistent with our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery. Our procurement and onboarding processes include an assessment of ethical conduct and labour practices, and we seek written confirmation from key suppliers that they comply with applicable labour and human rights laws.
Storage Maryland reserves the right to conduct audits or assessments of suppliers, either directly or through independent third parties. These audits may include review of employment records, working conditions, recruitment practices, and grievance mechanisms. Where risks are identified, we work with suppliers to rectify issues within defined timeframes and monitor progress. Persistent or serious non-compliance may lead to suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Escalation
We encourage anyone who becomes aware of actual or suspected modern slavery or human trafficking involving Storage Maryland or its supply chains to report their concerns. Concerns may be raised through internal reporting channels, including line managers, senior management, or established whistleblowing routes within the company.
Reports can be made confidentially and will be treated seriously and sensitively. No person will suffer retaliation or detrimental treatment for raising a concern in good faith. All allegations will be reviewed, investigated as appropriate, and, where necessary, escalated to relevant authorities. We are committed to protecting those who speak up and to acting decisively on all credible concerns.
Training and Awareness
Storage Maryland recognises that effective prevention of modern slavery relies on awareness and vigilance. We aim to provide relevant training to employees, particularly those involved in procurement, contract management, facilities, and site operations, to help them identify indicators of exploitation and understand how to respond.
We also seek to communicate our expectations clearly to suppliers and contractors and to promote open dialogue about labour standards and ethical conduct throughout our commercial relationships.
Governance, Monitoring, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing this Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement rests with the senior leadership of Storage Maryland. We monitor the effectiveness of our approach through supplier assessments, audit findings, incident reports, and feedback from stakeholders.
This statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains current, effective, and aligned with applicable legislation and best practice. As our business and supply chains evolve, we are committed to continuous improvement in identifying, preventing, and addressing the risks of modern slavery. Updates to this statement will reflect the steps we are taking to strengthen our controls, training, and supply chain engagement.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Maryland and constitutes our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for the relevant financial year.
